Price List

THE QUAZY QUILTER

Quilting Costs
My pricing is based on square inches. To determine the square inches in your quilt, multiply the length x width. If your quilt is 85” x 90”, the total square inches are 7650” (85x90=7650). Multiply that by the price per square inch to get the total price for quilting.

I will be happy to provide you with a free estimate!

Basic Meander: $0.010/sq. in.
I basically doodle all over the quilt top, with stitching close enough together to assure that your quilt will stay quilted and stand up to use, yet leaving a more open look to the finished quilt.

Freestyle Meandering and Edge to Edge: $.015/sq in
All over, edge to edge simple patterns. This style of quilting begins at one edge of the quilt and extends all the way to the other edge without regard to the overall design. This style of quilting is the most popular.

Semi-Custom: $.020 to $.025/sq in
A more traditional style of quilting. Stitch-in-the-ditch (SID), cross-hatching, use of stencils, echo quilting, and many more traditional techniques and patterns may be used. This style of quilting takes a lot of thought and planning, adjusting, and measurements .

Batting

Batting and Backing needs to be a minimum of 5" wider and 5" longer than your top. If, for example, your top is 50 x 50, you need batting and backing that is 60 x 60. The extra allows me to have the needed room to attach your quilt to the frame and you get all the extra back in the end. I will not cut this off unless you request that I do the binding. In that case, you will get the extra fabric back with the quilt.

My preferred batting is the following:
Warm and Natural
Warm and White
Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom

You can supply the batting for your top or get it from me at current store rates.

Please note: Let's discuss batting if you prefer to use any particular type of batting not listed above.

Preparation of Quilt Top
I understand that a quilt that has spent time in a small box for a few days is not going to arrive nicely pressed, but I do expect you to have pressed it and checked tha back side for any areas that might need a little extra attention before you fold it for shipment.

Squaring up quilt $ 20.00
Pressing $ 20.00 (I do not charge for light pressing needed after packaging and mailing)
Clipping Threads $20.00. It is important to have extra "stray" threads clipped, especially if your quilt has light fabrics on the top. Although it doesn't seem important, a dark stray thread will show up like a beacon through the light fabric once quilted.

Backing
Clients must supply their own backing. Please have the backing 8” wider and 8” longer than the quilt top. Please indicate with a safety pin the CENTER and TOP of the backing.

Binding
I do not offer binding services at this time.

Thread
All thread is $9.00 per cone. Depending on the amount of quilting you desire, one cone is usually sufficient. Should you desire a specific type of thread, such as variegated or metallic, please let me know so I can be sure it's suitable for my machine.

Shipping
Shipping to be paid for by customer. The new priority mail boxes at the post office are ideal. A queen size quilt, with batting & backing will cost around $15.00. I do recommend you have the PO include insurance and tracking for your quilt. Do not mark the box as a quilt.

NOTE: The pricing on these pages are for your use to estimate the costs of having your top quilted. Prices subject to change without notice. Estimates are not contractual bids. Written estimates are free and are honored for 6 months. I will not change the price on any quilt that is in my shop awaiting quilting.

Payment in full is required before returning your quilt.

If you have questions about my pricing please contact me by phone or email. I would be glad to discuss your quilt with you. I take a personal interest in each quilt that I work on. Some quilts come out of the box and almost tell me how to quilt them! In these situations, if you have specified how you want your quilting done, I will contact you with my ideas and let you decide. If you are on a limited budget, let me know so we can work something out that suits both of us.

I look forward to doing business with you!!!
